Head of FRWO issued a message on the occasion of the International Forest Day on 21st March.
It is noteworthy that beginning 2013, March 21 has been observed annually as the International Day of Forests.
According to FRWO's website, Dr. Massoud Mansour issued a message on the occasion of International Forest Day, emphasizing the observance of law and the preservation of these valuable resources. The text of the message is as follows:
In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Today, the destruction of nature and land degradation has not only disturbed the peace and security of human, but also endangered life. Natural environments play a fundamental role in protecting health and nature provides the basic conditions for human health. The health of the natural environment, as the most important right of any society, has a great impact on the mental health as well as the sustainable development of countries.
On the other hand, today's worldview based on the attitude of experts in the field of natural resources as well the attitude of general public emphasizes the strategies including sustainable protection of areas, creating a balance in development, preservation of basic water, soil and plant resources. These new strategies has attracted views and approaches to the values of natural resources, especially its non-market values.
Therefore, March 21 that coincides with the first day of April and beginning of spring and the greenery of flowers, plants and nature is declared by the United Nations General Assembly to be the International Day of Forests.
The theme for 2022 is “Forests and sustainable production and consumption” that emphasizes the undeniable role of forests in the land stability and the vitality for life of human, animals and plants. I hope that with respect for nature and the rule of law and proper management and national determination to preserve existing resources FRWO leads natural resources management to the advancement and promotion of the goals of the supreme system of the Islamic Republic.
Massoud Mansour,
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jahad and Head of Forests, Range and Watershed Management Organization (FRWO)
